Natalia is one of three recipients selected for this year's Fleming Scholar Award for excellence in biomolecular engineering research in the Smith School
Congratulations to Natalia Lopez-Barbosa who has been selected as a Fleming Graduate Scholar in the Robert Frederick Smith School of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering. The Fleming Scholarships are the result of a generous gift from Sam and Nancy Fleming to support the most outstanding PhD students pursuing research in biomolecular engineering at Cornell. Natalia's research seeks to understand the role of special immune cells known as B1 cells in the secretion of antibodies that recognize carbohydrate structures (a.k.a. glycans) and how these antibodies might be directly involved in the development of autoimmune reactions. Prior DLRG Fleming Scholars include Tommy Jaroentomeechai, Ty Moeller, Kevin Weyant, and Morgan Ludwicki.
