Matt a recipient of the Cornell CoE Research Excellence Award for the second time

Matt was one of several College of Engineering faculty selected for a 2022 Research Excellence Award. He becomes the first faculty member at Cornell to receive the award twice. Research Excellence Awards were first established in 2015 to recognize the importance of leadership in innovative research. Recipients of the annual awards are nominated by their departments and selected by a committee for more than just their individual research outcomes. Awardees are also recognized for their impacts on society, reputation in the field, leadership, mentorship and citizenship within the college and university.
