Updated: May 10, 2020

Lydia selected as the first winner of the Outstanding Alumna Award to be presented at the 2018 graduate reunion

Congratulations to Dr. Lydia Conteras (PhD '08) who was selected the faculty and students of the Robert F. Smith School of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering as the inaugural recipient of the Outstanding Alumna Award, to be presented at the 2018 graduate reunion.

After completing an ultra-successful PhD at Cornell, Lydia went on to a postdoc position at the Wadsworth Center with Marlene Belfort, working in the area of RNA biology, after which she started her independent career as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at UT-Austin. Lydia has won numerous awards along the way and is an emerging leader in the nascent field of RNA synthetic biology. Well done Lydia!
